Some Random Thoughts.

Last night the three of us (yes, all three of us!) went to a pizza joint for dinner up the street from us that we can walk to. Finn had had a rough day of little naplets and general fussiness (hopefully our nanny won't quit on us!), so it really was a risky endeavor but it was worth it! He did great, as long as he had a spoon in his hand. And he sure did charm the rest of the guests that were close by.

I'm loving being in these pics with my darling boy. It's rare these days, so I'm soaking it up.

On another note, has anyone ever tried these Aveeno facial cleanser wipes? These days I'll admit that there's nights I barely get myself to bed and I'm lucky to brush my teeth and take out my contacts. These have come in so handy for a quick face wash to get my make-up off before bed. And to top it off, they leave my face smelling sooo good! I just had to share the love.

Lately I've been into almond flour. Have you ever tried baking with it? It's so yummy and light! I've made quite a few lovely baked goods: pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bars and bread. Baking has actually been a surprisingly enjoyable and easier task for me these days, as long as there's not too many ingredients. I can multitask with it (i.e. watch Finn, do laundry, etc.) and clean up as I go. I need to slow down though so I don't become too addicted.....

And lastly, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely sister.
Miss you and love you dearly! Strut those Uggs proudly, and strut them all
the way to Greenville. I'm sure you'll look fantastic in them!

That's it for today! Watch out...tomorrow the Finnster is 5 months! Yes, that's right, 5 months!

I played the piano and flute for many years. I really miss it at this point in my life and have been thinking about finding a flute so maybe I could join an orchestra or something. Mom would be proud.

Vegetable you hate: Lima beans. So mushy. And water chestnuts.

What makes you run late:
Trying to figure out what to wear or fitting in one more task before walking out the door.

X-Rays You’ve Had:
Each wrist one time. Oh, and dental x-rays of course.

Yummy food you make:
Lots of things of course! But this week I'm making a Kahlua German Chocolate Cake for Lyle and his dad's birthday.

Any thoughts???? Try it!

Brothers & Sisters & It's Hot Today

It's going to be a very hot one today.....yikes. It reminds me of Seattle days when it's rainy and you get to sit around inside and curl up on the couch to read or watch movies, though not quite as cozy due to the heat. Or maybe that's my way of making myself feel better for doing what I've been doing. I know I've mentioned before, but I'm addicted right now to the show Brothers & Sisters. This show always hooks me at the end by leaving the episode hanging and since I am able to stream it through Net Flix I can watch them endlessly if I choose. This I haven't done yet, though have come close. It makes me laugh and cry (mostly cry), want to stand around the kitchen with family and friends while I cook and drink really good wine. If I were younger right now, I'd probably be convinced that Lyle and I should have 5 children...but I think we'll be getting a late start to strive for that number. But most of all it reminds me of how important family and our marriages are, and how we need to protect and nurture them. I'm learning, not just through this show but through my short stint of marriage as well, that we need to constantly be striving to nurture and improve our marriage. It's so easy to get comfortable and think we have it made, but I think we and our spouses deserve more than that. How can I better serve, love, support, and surprise? Where can I let go? What makes him really happy and feel loved? When I get stuck in the daily routine, it's so easy to forget about these things and just continue to move forward. But I've always been one that's reveled in the small things in life; I don't want to forget that because the small things are really the big things. Can you tell I love my husband? Because I do! Anyway, if you're looking for a new show to get hooked into, I recommend this one. Just fold laundry or pay the bills while you watch it. Then you won't feel so guilty for turning the TV on. That's what I do.
