Friday Fun.

It's Friday! Yay! For us this has a new meaning now....I'm back at work, so I can celebrate in a different way for the arrival of everyone's favorite day. Returning to work hasn't been too painful...so far. I started off with a short day today & Monday as well. I don't mind. It's nice to ease back into it.

Finn did great with his new friend, Sherry. I think it was comforting for me knowing that he was with someone that was super excited to be with him, and that I was going to have a short first day as well. 

This weekend Finn & I are flying solo. Dad went down to New Orleans to cheer on our Washington Huskies while they take on LSU!  Tomorrow we'll be decked out in our Husky gear. Maybe we'll even throw on some purple & gold gdiapers. We'll see! Go Huskies!

Friday Fun.

"What have we been up to this week?", you might ask. Well, to be quite honest, not a whole lot of much other than sleeping. I'll explain more about that later some time next week, but really this mom has been trying to catch up on some quality sleep time that she did not realize she was in such need of and lacking until now. I start working again next Friday and all of a sudden became terrified and realized that I needed to start taking care of myself. But more on that later. This is supposed to be Friday Fun randomness!

Yesterday I got Finnie some new toys. Now they are a little advance for him at this stage of the game but with a little help from mom we can have some fun and make them last a long time. We went to a local consignment shop down the road and got some good deals.

This is one of my favorite therapy toys for the little ones and have been wanting to get one for work. I guess I'll know what to do with it once Finnie outgrows it! It's the Fisher-Price Roll-a-Rounds Swirlin Surprise Gumballs Machine. You can find a similar one here. It's also great for cause & effect. 

Finn can actually play pretty easily with it now with just a little help. Lots of fun!

And I'm wanting to get something like this for Finn as well. He's so wiggly squiggly right now being that he's rolling around so much and gets frustrated cause I think he really wants to crawl. He's actually getting up on all fours at times. It's really crazy. Then he gets mad because he can't go anywhere. So anyway, I think something like this (as seen here) would be really nice to have to get some of his extra energy out right now. It's the Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo.

And something else that's really fun is that Greenville is getting a Lululemon store!! We have our little showroom store right now that just has limited items, but in about a year we'll have a full fledged store. Yahoo! That and Anthropologie! If only we were to get a Nordstrom, however Lyle is sure thankful that we don't have one.

I'm really liking these carry & go pants...hmmm. Perfect for my mommy stay-at-home days.

I've also been eating a lot of ice cream this week. Guilty pleasure, but oh well! Our friends the Kruses made us dinner again the other night; a delicious red pepper sauce pasta dish paired with delicious homemade banana chocolate walnut ice cream. I have not been holding back. Happy tummy. And to top it off, Lyle brought home from the hospital today some coconut fudge ice cream. I had myself a little afternoon delight for the tummy...or two. Smile. 

That might be most of the Friday Fun for now. But let me tell you, my baby is happy happy because of all the sleep we are getting, and so is this mommy. I'm excited for more to come this weekend! Don't let me forget to tell you all about it (the sleep thing) next week (speaking of, he's appropriately waking up from his nap now...so I will go get him. Love that boy!).

Friday Fun.

Soon enough, we will be flying high in these skies, but above the trees hopefully! This will be our first trip with the little Finster. "Am I nervous?", you may ask and the answer is "yes". I'm not as nervous as I was a few weeks ago, but you never know how things could go. Any advice from all you mommies out there who've flown with a child under three months? Any & all advice would be much appreciated!

Here's what I hear in advice:

• Nurse during take-off and landing
• Bringing the Baby Bjorn & Boppy pillow for sleeping comfort
• Load up on lots of diapers & wipes & extra outfits
• Call the airline ahead of time to let them know we are flying with an infant

Any thing else or anything I should scratch?

Friday Fun.

This is some of our Friday Fun from last Friday. It was a spontaneous photo shoot in the backyard. Finn was loving the hammock, especially with his daddy. We got so many great facial expressions to share.

Friday Fun.

Yesterday was a super fun day for us. Lots of firsts I have to say. My good & super sweet friend, Brittany, offered to stay with Finn for a bit while I went out to do whatever....so I took her up on it! I had a voucher for a gel manicure that I needed to use up and was wondering how I would do that with a little one; this was the perfect opportunity. I was only gone for about an hour, but it was perfect.

And this is the result of my outing. What you don't see is the Starbucks Americano in the other hand! 

And yes, my ring finger is a different color. I saw a friend do that and thought it was pretty cool & worth a try. First gel manicure...love it!

After that we headed over to our friends' Carly & Louise's house for play group. This was both of our first play group ever! Super fun....well maybe more fun for me to get to socialize with the other moms/friends! Finn sure was tired after that and easily went down for a long nap. 

Later that evening, Minnie Finnie stayed home alone with Daddy for the first time while I went to Girls' Night Out (actually they had their own first Guys' Night Out--went to a local pub for a bit...). I'd offered to take Finn with me, but Lyle said he'd be fine staying with him. Score for me! A couple bottles for Finn means a glass of wine or two for me! Lyle did such a great job putting him down to bed the other night, I wasn't worried one bit....although he didn't quite make my desired bedtime last night....

Lyle wanted to wear this Hawaiian shirt thinking it looked "Dadish" and put Finn in a
coordinating outfit. You can't see the surf boards on his shirt in this picture. We thought
we'd capture a shot of their first night out together. 

The weather has finally given us a break here the last couple days with overcast skies, thunderstorms & temperatures in the 70s. I actually wore pants for the first time since Finn was born. They are tighter than my usual fit, but I can still wear them. I've got a ways to go though.

What a fun day for us both, I hope today is just as much fun but that I get to spend a little more time with the Finster. Between napping and leaving him throughout the day, I sure did miss him. Oh how I am in love with the little guy. He's my precious Little.

Oh, and FYI...yesterday we were 7 weeks. Sigh. Smile. Cry. Smile.

Friday Fun.

This 4th of July was spent a little differently for us. How about you? First of all, Lyle was on call (but able to spend most of the day with us!), and secondly....well, we have an infant. Enough said. We spent the early part of the day at our friends pool. The ortho gang all hung out. It was quite fun. And to top it off, it was Finn's first time swimming! He loved it! Though he spent most of his time sleeping in his sun tent.

The guys played a rousing game of....not sure, they made it up, but they couldn't eat until they hit a certain number of points!

This new momma is not quite swimsuit ready, but didn't want to miss out on the finn fun.

And that was our 4th. Lyle had to go into the hospital later and I wasn't willing to bare the fireworks crazy, so went to bed early. But it was a good one!
