Something New.

Today is Something New. I picked up this Essie nail polish today on a whim when passing by. The color is Jazz. I'm really not much of a "paint your own nails" kind of gal, because I'm HORRIBLE at it, but I thought I'd give it a try. It'll probably last until tomorrow. Here's to seeing if I can get the other hand finished before work tomorrow!

Closet, Blue, Heart....

I'm a little behind, I have to admit, on my photo challenge. I did really well last week, but lost some of my gusto this week. I'm combining some shots into one, if you'll allow.

I'm choosing not to show you the inside of my closet, rather you can see the outside here in the background. You'll get some more views in later posts. Maybe someday you'll get to see the organized mess...if you're lucky. Hah. Due to our small home we have small closets, especially for a girl who loves clothes as much as I do. Someday maybe I'll have the big and organized closet of my dreams....like this one here & here. 

This shot also captures Blue & Heart for Monday and Tuesday. I hope you all had a Happy Valentines Day! We sure did. I'll share with you what we did on Friday.

Makes Me Happy...

To be honest...these little critters of ours make my (our) hearts oh-so-happy. Today's Photo Challenge is a tribute to the Ry-Man. He's getting some love on the blog today. 

I took this photo when practicing taking some shots after a photography class. No editing here other than a little bit of cropping. Isn't Riley a beauty?

Stuffed Chicken with Roasted Broccoli & Potatoes......Self-Portrait...Yet Again!

Last night was my one "real dinner" night of the week. I love to cook, but lately it hasn't been something I get excited about....until I do it. I'm trying to do at least one real meal a week. This one turned out delicious and despite the words "stuffed chicken", it was really easy. It's another Real Simple  recipe. You can find it here. Just a few ingredients: chicken cutlets, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, broccoli, red potatoes, salt & pepper, & olive oil. Just make sure you have toothpicks or skewers to hold the cutlets together. 

Go ahead. Try it. You'll surprise yourself. 

And for today's photo challenge, Self-Portrait. As if you need to see more pictures of me these days....but oh well! 

As for me tonight, I had a very exciting evening. The Bob arrived at REI, so I picked it up after work. When I got home the car seat was waiting at the door! A very kind friend had it sent to us as a gift. I couldn't believe how generous of a gift it was. Thank you Dana!! I had a lot of fun setting the two up together. For the rest of the evening, I'm crashing and watching The Help. Lyle's on call, so it's me and the cats cuddling on the couch; possibly with a bowl of ice cream or Golden Grahams.

Front Door.

This picture was taken in Nice, France. If you haven't been there, it's an amazing city to visit. I went in 2004 and adventured around Europe a bit with friends and a bit on my own. I loved all the different doors that homes had. Like my buttons (ribbon too), I have a slight obsession with front doors. I look forward to the day that Lyle & I can pick out a door together.

That's it for today! I enjoyed my day today at the gym, delivering Meals on Wheels, running errands, and meeting up with a friend for a good walk in the sunshine. Now I'm off to cook dinner. Lyle's eating again. Yay.

Sun.

The sun finally decided to come out today. I was starting to get a little worried and thinking that I might have to get a little creative with an interpretive picture of "sun" on a cloudy day for my photo challenge! There it is poking through the trees. It's been so gorgeous here in Greenville this past week or so. I forget that it's February. Still cool enough that warmer clothes are appropriate, well at least for my alway cold self. Others may argue with that one. 

I wanted to try another photo that is a little more abstract for "sun"; maybe we should call it "shadow".

I'm supposed to be working right now, but came home for a couple hours due to some cancellations. Lyle's sick at home with the stomach bug. Poor guy. He's pretty miserable. I slept in the other room last night to give him some space (and to keep the bug away from Little). Hopefully he'll be back to himself tomorrow, but I also hope he will allow himself another day to rest and get well before going back to work. Maybe I should have him sit out in the "sun" for a bit.

A Stranger & Buttons.

Here are a few strangers for you from my Saturday challenge. This is looking down at Falls Park from Main Street. I actually think I know the people on the swing. I work with her at REI, but I'm not positive, so this will count. It was such a beautiful day! Falls Park always gets filled up when the sun comes out; just like Greenlake in Seattle.

My photo challenge photo for today was "button". I love buttons and actually have a little collection of them that I keep in a jam jar. There's so many different kinds, all so unique in their own way. I find the best ones come from my items purchased at Anthropologie!

So here I am, all caught up on my photo-a-day challenge since I've joined. Let's see how I do for the rest of the week....

Today on my day off, I've spent my time having morning coffee with a friend (as mentioned here), grocery shopping, a little house cleaning (of which I'll finish up tonight; it's just too nice out to be inside cleaning), and hunting for a dresser for our little guy's room. I think I may have found some good alternative options for us. There were some great items up at the antique store by our house. Now I'm off for a trip to the gym and possibly a neighborhood walk. It's so beautiful out today! Sunny and in the 60s.

10 am. & Dinner.

Here's my photo from 10 am yesterday. Lyle & I got up and went for a long walk before I had to head out to REI for the day. The rest of the day was spent Super Bowling it at our friends, Camille & Patrick's place. They put on quite a shin-dig.

I'm  bit off on my photo-challenge. I still need to get out my "stranger" photo...but don't fret.

But here's dinner from tonight.

Hands.

I'm joining the bandwagon on this a little late, but I thought it looked fun and a great way to try to inspire myself to get creative with photos. It's a photo-a-day for the month of February. It's from fat mum slim. 

I'm joining late and starting with "Hands". My hands aren't so pretty these days: my rings need cleaning, and I did not prep them for this post! Ha.
