Packing Bags.

This is what was given to me at my last appointment: Labor Instructions. Holy Cow! I think I'm just about there...Maybe this egg is going to hatch. I'm super thankful that my practice doesn't do dilation "checks" until the last week or so unless necessary. I'm really not looking forward to that; I'd rather only have to go through that when I'm actually in labor and it is a bit more necessary.

The bag packing has started. I have the basics and a list of items on the fridge that can't be packed until last minute. I also packed Little's bag. As you may have noticed, I have a few blankets in there. I couldn't quite choose just one....and several possible outfits. I just don't know how big he's going to be!!
Any suggestions from you mommies out there of must-haves for the hospital? Any favorites you're so glad you had with you? Unnecessary items? We are super close, so if there's anything we forget it will be easy enough to run home (well for Lyle to run home...unless it's needed "in the moment"...).

Any guesses on dates? Size? Weight?

magazines or DVDs in case it's a long one - anything distracting that you don't have to pay too much attention to.

Can't wait to get the news!

You probably won't use half of what you pack for yourself. Wear home the clothes that you wear there and just where the hospital clothes when you there (you're going to bleed a lot, so why not ruin someone else's stuff!). Plus Little will be littler than the clothes you have packed, even thought it's hard to imagine!! Take some music (CD or iPod), it's nice to have to drown out the hospital sounds during labor and afterwards.

lip balm. My lips always get so dry and I love having something to put on them!
Also, I saw the comment above about wearing the hospital gown... to each their own, but I loved having something of my own to change into. It was nice wearing my clothes and not the awful hospital gown. It made me feel better about myself!
If I think of more I will email you!

I wore the hospital gown through labor but was thankful to have my own pj's to wear during the remainder of our stay (make sure they're nursing friendly - if you plan to nurse).

I took a couple bottles of "Recharge." Are you familiar with it? It's like Gatoraide but without all the garbage and it can be found in natural food stores/ sections. I think orange is the best. It helped me through a long labor. Water alone won't do it and you might not feel like eating/ drinking anything else.
