Amelia Island

Here's another little peak into our little vacation getaway. If you missed the first peak, you can see it here. The first few pictures are of our bike ride to Fort Clinch. It dates back to pre Civil War era. Boy does Lyle love old castles and forts. I discovered this on our honeymoon in Portugal when it seemed we had to spend hours at every fort or castle we stumbled upon. I enjoy seeing a couple....I'm always a bit happier with a little persuasion. I was nicely rewarded this time with a bike ride for an ice cream cone afterward.

One activity Lyle & I have discovered we love in the last year is kite flying. We did some biking & camping on the Outer Banks in North Carolina last spring and bought a kite. It was a much stronger wind out there than where we were on this trip which made it seem like a piece of cake compared to last year.

Each evening at the B&Bs that we stayed at, there was a happy hour hosted by the lodge. We enjoyed resting on the deck with some good snacks and a drink (or lemonade for me!) and played some good 'ol rounds of Scrabble or Words with Friends before heading out to dinner. Lyle always beats me on these.

"You know, you can always trade a letter..."

Our last night on Amelia Island we at this little joint in the historic downtown. There we enjoyed some good fish tacos & nicoise salad with grilled salmon. Yumm. The ambiance was cozy as well. I love little dates like this with my favorite guy.

That's it for Amelia Island. Next stop.....St. Augustine, Florida.
